Privacy Policy

Last updated July 2026

1. Overview

Virgil is a personal AI assistant built to be private by default. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the control you have. Wherever it is practical, your data is processed on your device rather than in the cloud.

2. Information we collect

Account information, such as your name, email address, and billing details, needed to create and maintain your account. Usage information, such as basic diagnostics and feature usage, that helps us keep the Service reliable. Content you choose to connect, such as calendar events, meeting audio, and messages, which Virgil uses to do its job.

3. How we use your information

We use your information to provide and improve the Service, to process payments, to communicate with you about your account, and to keep the Service secure. We do not sell your personal data.

4. Local-first processing

Virgil is designed so that your meeting content, notes, and memory live on your device. Transcription and much of the assistant's work run locally. When a feature requires a cloud model, only the data needed for that request is sent, and it is not used to train third-party models.

5. Third-party services

We rely on trusted providers to operate the Service, including a provider for authentication, a provider for payments, and providers for model inference. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy commitments and only as needed to deliver their part of the Service.

6. Data retention

We keep account and billing records for as long as your account is active and as required to meet legal and accounting obligations. On your device, you control the content Virgil stores and can remove it at any time.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain processing. You can exercise these rights from your account settings or by contacting us.

8. Security

We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your data and to respond quickly if something goes wrong.

9. Children

Virgil is not intended for children under the age required by law in your region, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Service evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you.
